Venäjän presidentti toteaa terävästi, että Georgian kriisi on luonut uuden maailmantilanteen:
"Appearing in Moscow Friday before a session of the ‘Valdai’ discussion club, President Medvedev set out a vision of a multipolar world that replaces an obsolete security system which went bust during the latest crisis in the Caucasus. He said unipolar or bipolar designs do not work and must give way to a concert of nations governed by international law. He declined talk of a new Iron Curtain in the making and categorically dismissed speculation about a worse business climate in Russia after the Caucasus war. On energy, he said Russia possesses sufficient oil and natural gas reserves to meet the needs in Asia as well as Europe and has plans to radically diversify its energy customer base."
USA:n on enää turha haaveilla siitä, että se saisi häärätä mielensä mukaan maailmanpoliisina Euraasian nousevien suurvaltojen mielipiteestä välittämättä.
