"Many young Iraqis are disgusted with Islamic violence and the religious leaders. A recent survey among 40 young Iraqis revealed that they are frustrated with the restrictions imposed by the religious leaders.
The New York Times reported in an article the young generation of Iraq is skeptical of Islam. Sara Sami, a high school student in Basra said, “I hate Islam and all the clerics because they limit our freedom every day and their instruction became heavy over us,” she added, “Most of the girls in my high school hate that Islamic people control the authority because they don’t deserve to be rulers.”
Although, the survey was not scientific as it was done among a limited number of youths, a shift is apparent. University teachers complained about not finding enough students for religion classes and less young people attend the weekly prayer.
A professor of Baghdad University’s School of Law said, “They have changed their views about religion. They started to hate religious men. They make jokes about them because they feel disgusted by them.”
While talking about the extremists, a Shiite cleric said, “When they behead someone, they say ‘Allah Akbar,’ they read Koranic verse,” he further admitted, “The young people, they think that is Islam. So Islam is a failure, not only in the students’ minds, but also in the community.”"

Baptistit juhlivat Irakin sotaa.
Baptistiseurakunta Georgian osavaltiossa Yhdysvalloissa on järjestänyt jumalanpalveluksen Irakin sodan kunniaksi. Columbuksen kaupungissa Fort-Benningin sotilastukikohdan lähellä pidetyssä jumalanpalveluksessa Irakissa olevia yhdysvaltalaissotilaita luonnehdittiin "Saatanaa vastaan taisteleviksi kristinuskon puolustajiksi".
