5 In modern times such eagerness, commendable in itself, has led to attempts at setting dates for the desired liberation from the suffering and troubles that are the lot of persons throughout the earth. With the appearance of the book Life Everlasting-in Freedom of the Sons of God, and its comments as to how appropriate it would be for the millennial reign of Christ to parallel the seventh millennium of man's existence, considerable expectation was aroused regarding the year 1975. There were statements made then, and thereafter, stressing that this was only a possibility. Unfortunately, however, along with such cautionary information, there were other statements published that implied that such realization of hopes by that year was more of a probability than a mere possibility. It is to be regretted that these latter statements apparently overshadowed the cautionary ones and contributed to a buildup of the expectation already initiated.

En löytänyt vastaavasta suomalaisesta vartiotornista tätä???
Suomenkielinen ilmestyi tuolloin 3-4 kk myöhemmin kuin englanninkielinen.
Etsi otsikkoa "Parhaan elämäntavan valitseminen"
En näe suoranaista anteeksi pyyntöä, mutta jotakin asiaan viittaavaa lehdessä kommentoitiin tähän tapaan
>Käsitellessään sitä, miten epäviisasta on kiinnittää katseemme johonkin tiettyyn päivämäärään, Vartiotorni-lehti sanoi vuoden 1976 lokakuun 1. päivän numerossaan: ”Jos joku on ollut pettynyt siksi, ettei ole noudattanut tällaista ajattelutapaa, niin hänen pitäisi nyt keskittyä korjaamaan näkemystään ja ymmärtää, ettei Jumalan sana ole pettänyt häntä, vaan että hänen oma ymmärryksensä perustui väärille perusteille.” Sanoessaan ”joku” Vartiotorni tarkoitti kaikkia pettyneitä Jehovan todistajia, joihin näin ollen sisältyvät myös ne, joilla on ollut osuutta sen tiedon julkaisemisessa, joka edisti tuohon ajankohtaan kohdistuvien toiveitten voimistumista.

..Nykyaikana tällainen into, mikä itsessään on kiitettävää, on johtanut siihen, että on yritetty asettaa määräaikoja halutulle vapautukselle kärsimyksistä ja ongelmista, jotka ovat ihmisten osana kaikkialla maailmassa. Kun kirja Iankaikkinen elämä Jumalan lasten vapaudessa ilmestyi selityksineen siitä, miten sopivaa olisi Kristuksen tuhatvuotisen hallituskauden alkaa samanaikaisesti ihmisen olemassa olon seitsemännen vuosituhannen kanssa, niin heräsi huomattavia odotuksia vuoden 1975 suhteen. Silloin ja sen jälkeen esitettiin lausuntoja, joissa korostettiin sitä, että se olisi vain pelkkä mahdollisuus. Valitettavasti näiden varovaisten tietojen ohella julkaistiin kuitenkin muita lausuntoja, joissa annettiin ymmärtää, että sellaisten toiveitten toteutuminen tuona vuonna oli paremminkin todennäköistä kuin vain mahdollista. On valitettavaa, että nämä jälkimmäiset lausunnot jättivät ilmeisesti varjoonsa nuo varovaisemmat lausunnot ja siten voimistivat jo heränneitä odotuksia.
