    - The billboard pictured, which is on I-4, says that it is a “political public service message brought to you by Clear Channel Outdoor.”

    Vähän taustaa:

Clear Channelin (toimii myös Suomessa) entinen johtaja teksasilainen Lowry Mays (poika Mark tänä vuonna CEO:ksi isän tilalle, Lowry jatkaa hallituksen puh.johtajana) on vanha Bushin perheen tuttu ja Dubyan liikekumppani jo vuosien takaa.
Yhtiön radioasemaketju järjesti Irakin sotaa kannattavia tilaisuuksia ja mainostauluosasto kieltäytyi laittamasta New Yorkiin sodan vastaisia mainoksia.

"...new political contribution data tell a different story about Clear Channel (CCU) executives. They have given $42,200 to Bush, vs. $1,750 to likely Democratic nominee John Kerry in the 2004 race.

What's more, the executives and Clear Channel's political action committee gave 77% of their $334,501 in federal contributions to Republicans. That's a bigger share than any other entertainment company, says the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics.

In contrast, Viacom (VIA) executives and its political action committee gave just 30% of their $545,650 to Republican candidates..."

"Clear Channel CEO Lowry Mays and his sons led the campaign giving. Mays gave $12,500 to the Republican National Committee in September. He gave $2,000 to Bush in July. President Mark Mays and Chief Financial Officer Randall Mays each gave $2,000 to Bush last year, as well. Levin says these gifts reflect a fact of political life — that companies tend to favor the party in power."

"...The chairman and chief executive officer of Clear Channel is L. Lowry Mays, a Texan and long-time contributor to the Republican Party and the Bush family. The other top executives at Clear Channel—Lowry’s sons Randall and Mark Mays—are also prominent financial supporters of the Republican Party and Bush, as is Mays’ wife, Peggy. The Mays family has ties both to the Texas oil industry and the investment banking sector, in which all three of the executives were formerly employed.

Both Lowry Mays and the vice chairman of Clear Channel’s board of directors, Tom Hicks, helped Bush make millions of dollars while he was governor of Texas in the 1990s. Hicks is chairman and chief executive of the leveraged buyout firm Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, which at one point owned the radio conglomerate AMFM Inc., before AMFM was bought out by Clear Channel.

When Bush assumed the office of Texas governor in 1994, he supported the appointment of Hicks to the University of Texas Board of Regents. Within a year of taking office, Bush established the University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO), which was given unprecedented powers to use the $13 billion University of Texas endowment fund for private investment and financial speculation. Hicks was placed at the head of UTIMCO, and Lowry Mays was appointed and still serves on UTIMCO’s compensation committee.

It is well documented that many of UTIMCO’s early investments went to companies—such as the investment company, Carlyle Group—with close ties to the Bush family and the Republican Party. In 1998, Hicks bought the Texas Rangers from a consortium of investors that included George W. Bush, a sale that netted the then-governor and future president $15 million."

Clear Channel on kyllä tuttu.

    >>In response to inquiries from RAW STORY and the Associated Press, Clear Channel Outdoor issued a statement asserting that the billboard’s content was the product of the local office of the company, and not a corporate decision.

“Clear Channel Outdoor markets are operated locally,” Tony Alwin, Senior Vice President, Creative for Clear Channel Outdoor, said. “Local managers determine what copy to use when a location has time that is not sold to an advertiser.”>>

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine." - Thomas Jefferson

Nähtävästi floridalaisilla rakennusurakoitsijoilla on tarve saada tietyn puolueen edustaja kuvernööriksi:

Rakkaalla johtajalle täytyy myös hankkia demokraattien katalasti aikanaan poismyymä "soutuvene":
