Työikäisistä Somalit ovat suurin ei-työssä käyvä (työllä elantonsa ansaitsevat) ryhmä Britannissa. Suomessa tilanne vieläkin karmeampi.
Briteissä ei yleisesti pidetä Somaleista, näin ajattelee myös muut ei kantaväestöön kuuluvat. Saavat syyttää tästä täysin itseään, syy ei ole yhteiskunnassa. Ystäväni oli Arabiemiraateissa työkomennuksella muutaman kuukauden, siellä paikalliset muslimit kutsuvat näitä "laiskoiksi huijareiksi". En sano että jokainen olisi mutta kun monessa eri maassa on samantapainen käsitys näistä niin silloin saa jo aika hyvän, todellisen kuvan tilanteesta.

I live in an area that has a high percentage of Somali immigrants, and I find them by far the hardest of all immigrants to get along with for a variety of reasons. Nearly all the Jamaicans and Indians I know have nothing but negative things to say about them too. A rasta I know always makes me laugh because he is always moaning about the Somalis having no respect and thinking they can take over the country and things like that LOL"

"I live in Birmingham. My main problem with the Somalians is, as you've touched on, their manner and they are very rude. For example if a pregnant lady is standing up on a packed bus or train that is full of Somalis, not one of them will get up and offer her a seat. The Somalians have NO control over their kids and don't teach them BASIC manners such as standing in line to wait for an ice cream instead they run to the front of the line. They always push past people in the street and in queues etc. and if someone calls them out on it they do the 'I don't speak English' act.
Also, when you see a mother come into a shop who is Jamaican or Asian or white or black or Chinese or whatever, they always make sure their kids behave with proper manners and respect things, whereas the Somalis just let their kids run riot in the shop ripping open packaging/knocking things off shelves etc. A lot of them are sneaky too. When it suits them they will do the 'poor me, I'm from a terrible country' routine for example to elicit sympathy.
My other issue with the Somalis is that nearly every one of them I have seen live up to the Daily Mail-stereotype of 'scrounging immigrants'. Not one Somali family that lives by me works and they all have about 4 kids at least. I'm sure not all of them are this way but at least the ones in my proximity are. "
