TOURISTS AMONG THE DEAD
Western tourists are believed to be among the many dead at a popular resort in Thailand.
Some 800 bodies have already been recovered in Khao Lak - many coming from the Sofitel hotel where hundreds of tourists had been staying.
Around 500 guests and staff are still missing at the Sofitel, a cottage-style hotel owned by the French hotel group Accor.
French junior foreign minister Renaud Muselier said 29 French people who had been staying at the hotel were unaccounted for.
Many of the dead bodies were recovered from the rooms of the shattered complex, while others were found buried in the rubble and mud.
Thai soldiers are storing the bodies at a Buddhist temple at the southern end of the beach - but none of the bodies is being cremated until they have been identified.
