British Nuclear Group, the government-owned nuclear clean-up group, will face criminal prosecution for serious safety breaches last year at its Sellafield plant, potentially complicating the company's planned sale.
The Nuclear Installations Inspectorate on Wednesday charged BNG with violations of its licence to operate the Thorp nuclear reprocessing plant in Cumbria, which has been closed since a big radioactive leak in April 2005.
