Jehovan todistajat käyttivät 1950-luvulle asti englanninkielisissä maissa King James Version-käännöstö (KJV, Kuningas Jaakon käännös). Suomessa käytettiin ymmärtääkseni kirkkoraamattua/tms suomalaista käännöstä. Haastan kaikki todistajat tutkimaan käännöksien eroja.
Muutamia esimerkkejä:
KJV acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
NWT acts 20:28 Pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the holy spirit has appointed YOU overseers, to shepherd the congregation of God, which he purchased with the blood of his own [Son].
Ja vielä kaupanpäällisiksi greens literal käännös, siis sanasta sanaan-käännös.
Green acts 20:28 Then take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit placed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased through His own blood.
Tämänkaltaisia käännöseroja löytyy uuden testamentin puolelta hyvin suuri määrä. Lähes kaikki sellaiset kohdat jotka näyttäisivät viittaavan alkutekstissä Jeesuksen jumalalliseen luontoon, on muutettu UM-käännöksessä.
Jumala on ostanut verellään seurakuntansa. Amen.
