PANJIM, NOV 4 — The Information Technology (IT) advisor to the Government of Goa, M N Rao today disclosed the governments’ plans to provide 10 GB broadband connectivity through optic fibre cables to every village and citizen in Goa by December 2007.
With this the government foresees a better connectivity between citizen-citizen, citizen-business and citizens-government, he sadi.
Rao was speaking at the public lecture “Framework of knowledge economy in Goa by 2020,” organized by the Bengali Cultural Association in association with the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI) today at Panjim.
Rao said “economy will be projected through knowledge. However, there is lack of basic infrastructure to utilize available knowledge. Hence the Government of Goa has decided to have broadband connectivity linking every village and citizen in the state by December 2007.”
“The next important aspect is provision of hardware. The Cyberage scheme will spread computer penetration into families. Through this scheme the hardware and networking will be in place,” said Rao, adding “a State data centre will be established to provide informative, collaborative and interactive services.”
“A citizen kiosk will be established at every panchayat so that people can get access to documents, application forms and clarify other official details with various government departments,” he said. The government plans to establish such centres at 190 village panchayats by June 2007.
According to Rao, with the broadband connectivity, call centres and BPO’s need not set up base in the State but people from the State can work from home for such centres and the data processing can be done and transferred to whichever country the call centre collaborates.

tekee sen erilailla kuin länsimaat yleensä, tosin vain osa intiaa. Kerropa missä päin maailmaan kaikki ihmiset ovat tasa-arvoisia ja yhtä hyvässä asemassa. Totta, Intiassa erot ovat valtavat, mutta ei kai sitä paremmaksi saada sillä, että kehitys pysäytetään!
Köyhät ne sitä kehitystä tarvitsevat, eivät rikkaat, he saavat omansa muutenkin. Luuletko sinä, että ihmiset siellä ovat kevyttä sisätyötä tehneet aikaisemmin? Luuletko, että ihmiset, jotka pääsevät jonnekin töihin, ovat siitä pahoillaa, vaikka työ olisikin meidän mielestämme "huono"!!
Luuletko, että työolot tulevat siitä paremmaksi, että työtä ei ole? Mistä sinä luulet, että Suomen teollisuuden kehitys on aikanaan alkanut? Ulkomaisten yrittäjien tänne tulosta se on alkanut. Luuletko, että vaikkapa Tampellan tehdästytöt olivat aikanaan onnettomia osastaan? Eivät takuulla olleet, vaan ylpeitä siitä, että olivat saaneet hyvän työn.
Ei kehitys ole mikään yksiviivainen täydellisen onnistunut ja hallittu prosessi, se on matka kohti parempaa. Eikä takuulla Intia tai Kiina ole huonommassa asemassa kuin joku Afrikan maa, jossa kehitystä ei tapahdu. Ilman kehitystä et sinäkään täällä tyhmiä kirjoittelisi, vaan raataisit kivilouhimolla.
Intian talous kasvaa, mutta köyhimmillä ei ole koskaan mennyt näin huonosti.
