Two JDL leaders charged in bomb plot

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Federal authorities Wednesday charged two leaders of the Jewish Defense League with conspiring to blow up Arab and Muslim institutions in southern California, including the offices of Arab-American congressman Rep. Darrell Issa.

Irv Rubin and Earl Krugel were taken into federal custody following late Tuesday raids by members of an antiterrorism task force, said Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for U.S. Attorney John S. Gordon.

"When you target innocents based on religious or political affiliation or belief, we consider that terrorist activity," Gordon said.

"Their primary motivation was to send a 'wake-up call' or terrorize Muslims or Arabs and alert the local, if not national, community to the JDL's commitment to attack those targets."

Israeli terrorists arrested in the USA

Fox News reports today, two Israelis have been arrested in the state of Washington after police detected small explosive parts in their car during just an ordinary check-up. The channel published a sensation of a similar kind in December 2001. It reported then, 60 Israelis were detained on suspicion of espionage and concealing information connected with the Sept.11 terrorism attacks.

Fox News reports, the two Israelis whose names are not published yet, were arrested for excessive speed. During the check-up small parts of TNT and RDX were detected in the car.

Israeli-American pleads guilty to calling in airport bomb threat

A Florida college student pleaded guilty to calling in a phony bomb threat to the Long Beach Airport after he arrived too late to board his plane.

In his plea deal, Yechezkel Wells, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, admitted he made the call to try to keep the plane from leaving. He told investigators he was upset that he was not allowed to board the plane and hoped the threat would cause a delay so he might have a chance to get on, authorities said.

But scientific evidence gathered from at least two bomb craters in Khiam and At-Tiri, the scene of fierce fighting between Hizbollah guerrillas and Israeli troops last July and August, suggests that uranium-based munitions may now also be included in Israel's weapons inventory - and were used against targets in Lebanon. According to Dr Chris Busby, the British Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risk, two soil samples thrown up by Israeli heavy or guided bombs showed "elevated radiation signatures". Both have been forwarded for further examination to the Harwell laboratory in Oxfordshire for mass spectrometry - used by the Ministry of Defence - which has confirmed the concentration of uranium isotopes in the samples.
