First feelings about The OC:
1) I was amused by how desperately packed it was, as if the writers had told their bosses that killing off one of the main characters was totally not a problem because they had, like, fifty story-lines ready for the next season. And then their bosses made them prove it by putting fifty story-lines in the first episode.
2) The way they played Running Up That Hill over all of Ryan's scenes, I imagined an alternative season four where he did make a deal with a god who literally swapped their places, so he was dead and Marissa was living in the utility closet of a scuzzy bar, assuaging her guilt every night by getting beaten up by sweaty men with tattoos in an underground cage fighting ring. I bet that would have been a ratings-winner.
BTW, greetings from York, "finnishers" ;)
