"British Council runs illegal activities in Russia Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:33 am
Hello! My name is Vadim. I'm from Russia, Moscow. I would like to draw attention of the Western audience to what your non-governmental organizations are in point of fact engaged in Russia. I want to talk about the British Council, the real field of activities of which got opened to me a while ago.
I am a second-year student and I study at one of universities of Moscow. Approximately a month ago some representatives of British Council came to my university and suggested attending of some prelections and discussions on the matter of democratic developments in Russia. I became interested in it and decided to go and listen to it. There were some 25 guys, students like me. You know, in the beginning of the lecture it was all OK. But after some 20 minutes I was merely shocked to hear that Russia needs some cardinal changes. The speaker told us that we must take part in all political developments in our country (which is, to be more specific, various antiauthority rallies, etc), go into pogroms, and offer opposition to the police... You know, it all looked like brainwashing! At the end of the lecture they offered us to join a youth organization named Oborona (which is an equivalent of Ukrainian youth extremist organization Pora – it helped Yushchenko to organize the so-called Orange revolution and seize power). They said that the British Council works closely with it. I heard that Oborona is an extremist organization with ideology that has borrowed much from fascism.
So what is it all about? The British Council makes a pretence of outreach activities while at the same time pave the way for unconstitutional change of regime in my country! What a shame of it! I'm sure they do it on request of foreign secret services, ones of America most probably. That's owing to such organizations like British Council, that NGOs in general are losing credit!"
