Pentecostalism may turn into a cult, if any human person in the congregation is lifted above others and idolized or considered to be more anointed than others and in that way spiritually untouchable. Also many preachers are highly valued, if they make miracles and really make people well in their situation. Of course people start to admire them and have even nonrealistic expectations about their spiritual gifts and influence to change things.
During the seventies preacher Niilo Yli-Vainio got his charismatic influence from American Pentecostal evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman.

Today there are new religious idols as Benny Hinn, Reinhard Bonnke, Cindy Jacobs, Markku Koivisto (Lutheran, nearly episcopalic movement in Finland), T.B. Joshua (Church for All Nations) etc. that are supposed to be miraclemakers. Their lives, attitudes, ministry and real results of their work will be the key how the audience receives them and in what position will they be placed as cultic persons.
