Would you believe it - C. Bellamy is out, injured again. Now that West Ham have offloaded F. Ljungberg, Bellamy will win the title, "most injured player" that is. Dean Ashton will be as important for West Ham as J. Elmander is for Bolton. The Hammers will not be a strong force to be reckoned with this season, but I will not deny that there is some talent in the side. Behrami I like, and there is nothing wrong with K. Dyer and S. Parker either, when they are fit that is. M. Noble will enjoy a strong season and one or two of their debutants from last season could have a breakthrough this time around.

Wigan will go on with more or less the same squad as last season. Cattermole and O. Kapo have joined the club, while M. Bent has gone the other way. They say plenty of good things about their on-loan striker A. Zaki and if reports will prove correct, E. Heskey will have an ideal partner up front. Valencia and Palacios have stayed with the club. Quite a clever side, Wigan, and they will get my vote in this opening round (4.15).
