Baniak, a sociologist at Poznan’s Adam
Mickiewicz University, found that over
53 per cent would like to have a wife and
family while 12 per cent said they were
already involved in a relationship.
Some 30 per cent claimed to have had a
sexual relationship with a woman.
While the figures raise question marks
over the Church’s devout, but controversial,
adherence to celibacy in the priesthood,
it also reflects a more general malaise for
the Polish Church as it tries to stand up
to the flood of Western values that have
swept over the country since the end of
communism."
