Maailmanlopun lahko & 100 v. synttärit

Synttärihumusta onkin sitten jossain vaiheessa sujuvaa palata taas “työn pariin”, mikä Vt-seuralle merkitsee tietenkin jäsenten aktiivista kontrollointia uusilla maailmanlopun ennustuksilla (kuten tähänkin saakka). Järjestön johto on oppinut, että laantuvia kasvuprosentteja ja ihmisten väljähtynyttä kiinnostusta sen oppeja kohtaan voidaan tehokkaasti piristää aika ajoin annetuilla tarkoilla ennustuksilla. Tässäpä katkelma, joka periaatteessa maalailee perusteet seuraavalle Harmagedonille vuodeksi 2034. Aika näyttää, ottaako järjestö tämän kortin joskus aktiivisempaan käyttöön nykyistä “pian” -termiä tehostamaan.

"Nooan päivinä Jehova julisti: ”Minun henkeni ei ole vaikuttava ihmisen hyväksi määräämättömiin, koskapa hän on lihaa. Näin ollen hänelle on kertyvä päiviä satakaksikymmentä vuotta.” (1. Mooseksen kirja 6:3.) Tämän Jumalan säädöksen esittäminen vuonna 2490 eaa. tiesi tuon jumalattoman maailman lopun alkua. Kuluisi enää 120 vuotta, ja sitten Jehova tuottaisi ”vedenpaisumuksen maan päälle” hävittääkseen ”taivaiden alta kaiken lihan, jossa elämän voima vaikuttaa”, kuten hän ilmeisesti myöhemmin kertoi Nooalle (1. Mooseksen kirja 6:17)."

Siis vuodesta 1914 laskemme 120 vuotta eteenpäin, ja johan alkaa päitä putoilemaan. Tai sitten ei.
Meidän on hyvä muistaa, että tuossa ei suoranaisesti sanota mitään varmaksi, kunhan vain annetaan ymmärtää. Viime vuosikymmeninä järjestö onkin oppinut jättämään itselleen aina takaportin auki näissä asioissa. Voisiko syynä tähän olla se, ettei se itsekään enää oikein usko omiin ennusteluihinsa?

Jehovan todistajat -niminen lahko on todistanut melkoisen vankasti ainakin sen, että mielenhallinta voi venyttää aika-avaruutta, tosiasioita tai vaikkapa pyramidin kiveä. Mutta uskohan siirtää jopa vuoria, sanotaan eepoksessa. Ja jos vuori ei jostain syystä tule tosi profeetan luo, niin tosi profeetan täytyy raahata luunsa vuoren luo.

Useille poliitikoille ja kulteille on yhteistä paniikkinapin painaminen siten, että julkinen uskottavuus säilyy (vaikkei se oikeasti säilykään). Tuloksena on mitä merkillisimpiä kiertoselittelyjä sekä virallisen vaikeita hymyjä.

Amerikkalaisia poliitikkoja ja amerikkalaisia lahkoja keskenään verratessa lahkot tuovat peliin jotain sellaista, mihin poliitikotkaan eivät yllä. Tuskin Clintonkaan esittää olevansa Jumalan asialla, ja uhkailee isolla hoolla, jos eivät puolueen jäsenet ajattelekaan kaikista asioista hänen tahtonsa mukaan. Epäilen suuresti myöskin sitä, että hänen clubilaisensa olisivat velvoitettuja karttamaan muiden ihanteiden puoleen kääntyneitä entisiä hillarylaisia.

Mutta Vartiotorni-seura tekee tämän, ja paljon muutakin. -Heil Society!
