http://www.exmormon.org keskustelupalstalta 7.3.2004:
They are calling me again!
Four years ago I left the church and put in a written request to officially have my name removed from the church registry.
Last week my 9 year old daughter answers the phone and my husband can overhear her talking to someone and saying, "No, she's not here...The what church?... We go to Calvary Chapel, is that what you mean?"
So my husband takes the phone to find its from someone linked to the church asking to update my membership information. I dont know if the person is from the local ward or stake or somewhere else.
My husband informed the woman that we left the church and that our names were to be removed from the membership. She argued with my husband that that can not happen without a meeting with the bishop, which I never had.
I did get a response to my letter from Utah saying that my name had been removed and a couple years later got a call asking if I wanted my childrens' names removed to which I answered yes. I have not heard anything since then.
So...obviously my name has not been completely removed since someone somewhere still has access to my personal information and assumes I am still a member.
And who, by the way, calls a home and trys to get information from a child? That really ticks me off.
Any advice on how I can assure that this does not happen again? I do not want contacted by these people again. Thanks in advance.
