Noin puoli vuosisataa sitten oli vuoden 1925 fiaskosta kulunut suunnilleen sama aika kuin nyt vuoden 1975 fiaskosta. Muistan kuinka Cedar Pointin konventteja tuotiin lapsuudessani usein ja hyvin ponnekkaasti esille. Konventit esitettiin nykysaarnaamisen lähtölaukauksina, mutta samalla vaiettiin siitä, että tarkoituksena oli ainoastaan muutaman vuoden loppurynnistys ennen vuoden 1925 Harmagedonia. Tuota ennustusta ei enää muisteltu, vaan otettiin rusina kakusta ja käytettiin tuota "advertise"-höppää saarnaamiskannustimena. Itse asiassa olin tuolloin yhtä harhaanjohdettu ja tietämätön vuoden 1925 suhteen kuin nuoret jehovantodistajat ovat nyt kuoliaaksivaietun vuoden 1975 suhteen.

Paljon on kirjoitettu siitä, miten vuoden 1975 ennustuksen pieleen meneminen vieritettiin liian innokkaiden veljien niskoille.
Hämmästyin todella nähdessäni, mitä vuonna 1926 kirjoitettiin vuoden 1925 maailmanlopun tulemattomuudesta:
"Some anticipated that the work would end in 1925, but the Lord did not state so. The difficulty was that the friends inflated their imaginations beyond reason; and that when their imaginations burst asunder, they were inclined to throw away everything." {WT Aug 1 1926 232}
Rikollisia, jotka samalla tavalla valehdellen yrittävät luikerrella vastuustaan, sanotaan nykyään psykopaateiksi.
Vuoden 1975 Harhagedon oli monia pikkupiirteitä myöten 1925:n toisinto. Oli tietysti julistajien syy, että uskoivat asiaan ja toimivat ohjeen mukaan. Toinen vaihtoehtohan olisi ollut yhteisön ulkopuolelle asettautuminen.
Vartiotorniseuran näkemyksen mukaan Jehovalla on aina tarkoitus kun hän johtaa seuraajiaan harhaan. Tulee odottaa Jehovaa, kyllä asiat sitten selitetään uudessa asiainjärjestelmässä.
Tässä eräs esimerkki kuinka kävi raamatuntutkijan jonka usko oli niin heikko, että hän meni ja kylvi 1925 keväällä:
"Membership's belief in this date was so total that many farmers did not plant crops in the spring of 1925! The authors were personally told of two examples of this in western Canada. In one case witness told us that his grandfather went ahead and planted his crops in the spring, though other members of his congrecation did not. The congrecation elders chastised this man for his lack of faith. That winter the grandfather was looked to for assistance by those who had not planted their crops."
