Government of Tongzhou in Nantong district hires a local mafia group to give pressure to residents of a neighbourhood under destruction. Covernment is renting the land of the neighbourhood to a private real estate company and wants to devastate the old houses from the area, residents try stand for their rights and get some compensation for their lossess, but goverment turns into ugly methods agains the innocent people.
At middle of the day on 1st of August, a Retired memeber of the people’s liberation army, is walking on the street and hears the cry for help of an house owner who is being assaulted by gang of mafia. This brave citizen tries to help this helpless house owner but gets badly beaten by more than twenty furious mob members. Now the ex-soldier, a father of a 13-years old girl and a husband of a loving wife, is fighing for his survival in local hospital with broken bones in his eye, nose and back. His shocked wife goes to meet the local goverment wearing his husbands bloody shirt trying to get justise, but nobody cares.
