There was evidence of a total of 13 shots fired where people saw shots strike the ground, grass or cement, including a curb near the bridge. Cement shrapnel struck the cheek of James Tague (standing on Commerce Street where it joined Main Street next to a support for the overpass), forced the W.C. to say that of the three shots that LHO could only have fired in the time allotted by the alleged rifle, one missed and hit the cement in front of Tague. Tague testified that the shot that caused him a small wound was the second audible shot. Other shots were thought to have hit the street. It was also believed that the body of the limousine had been hit and the car was soon completely rebuilt. Why? It is likely that there were at least 4 shooters, if the count of 13 shots was accurate, but possibly five or six. In one of the attempts to kill President Charles De Gaulle of France in his car, there were at least five shooters arrested. Some guards were killed or wounded, but De Gaulle escaped unharmed.
