"Christians are set to be a minority in Britain by the middle of this century amid the surging growth of Islam and atheism.
According to US research carried out by the Pew Research Centre, the amount of people in this country describing themselves as Christian will reduce by a third by 2050, making up just 45.5per cent of the population.
Meanwhile, the number of Muslims in Britain is predicted to more than double to 11.3per cent.
And those without religion are due to make up a shocking 39per cent of the British population in 35 years time.
Some experts even consider the estimates by the PWC to be too conservative.
Terry Sanderson, president of the National Secular Society, told the Daily Telegraph: “The British Social Attitudes Survey already puts the non-religious in the majority and if trends continue, Christians will be in a very small minority by 2050.
“The Christian hierarchy may consider it a tragedy, but most people are quite sanguine about it – they have no interest in church.""
