Jeesuksen mukaan lasten kaltaiset perivät Jumaalan valtakunnan.
I asked my two kids (Dahlia, 8 and Will, 6) which they would choose. If a person who did not believe in Jesus died, and God was real, which sounds most like what a loving, just God would say? (Thanks to
Richard Murray for some of the basic wording.)
1. “Because of your freewill rejection of me, my child, justice demands I must keep you alive while torturing you in hellfire for all eternity, with no respite or reprieve. You should have believed in me before it was too late.” (Eternal Conscious Torment)
2. “Because of your freewill rejection of me, my child, justice demands I must permit you to be put out of your misery by allowing the withering away of your existence into nothingness.” (Annihilationism)
3. “Your rejection of me was not free, my beloved, and justice means you are destined for a spiritual walkabout through a hell of your own making. It will be challenging. It may cause you much anguish as layers are burned away and you see your words and actions from the perspective of those around you. You may even grow to hate me and others until it starts to get better. Even though I know you think I'm lying right now, it will get better and you will be healed. I promise. And, when you are, the light will break through and you will see truth as true, beauty as beautiful and goodness as good—all things as they truly are. Let's begin.” (Apocatastasis, Universal Reconciliation)
It was unanimously, unreservedly number 3.
So I asked, why?
DAHLIA: The second one is executing!
WILL: The first one is about torture—
DAHLIA: It's rude, God would never say those things.
ME: Ok, so why is the third one true?
WILL: The third one is forgiving sins...
WILL: (with conviction) The Bible says that—forgive sins.
