A survey has placed Finland WAY AHED of other European countries in terms of economic growth and employment. The indicators measured by the survey included economic growth and labour productivity, investment, employment levels, education and economic stability.
Finland exhibited several strengths in achieving its FIRST PLACE POSITION; high level of education, the prioritising of research and development and exemplary state finances. The study also highlighted lesser known fortes. According to the study the Finnish ECONOMY is GROWING EXTREMLY WELL and the increase in labour productivity has also been rapid.
Finland was also found to have fulfilled all criteria for the so-called Lisbon Agenda, a set of reforms which seeks to enhance the EU's global economic competitiveness. The Lisbon Agenda, which was underwritten by EU countries in 2000, is designed to make the region the most competitive in the world by the year 2010.
The research was conducted by the global economic research firm Allianz for the Brussels-based think tank, the Lisbon Council. It showed that all of the original 15 members of the EU could reach the targets set by the Lisbon Agenda. Only France, Italy and Austria were found to be struggling to keep up.
Fourteen of the EU's largest economies were examined for the study, which ranked them as follows, from FIRST to last: Finland, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Britain, Greece, Germany, Holland, Spain, Belgium, France, Austria and Italy.

Vanhimmat
