"erilaisten puhetapojen selittämisen lahja" on yksi MAP-kirkon Pyhän hengen voimallinen lahja. Mitä tuo meinannee?
harvinainen Jumalan lahja?

juuri sitä mitä sanotaan. Vrt. 1. Kor. 12:10; 14:27.
on kopion tapainen rimpsu armolahjoista. Kyseisestä kohdasta selviää kyllä, ettei kyseessä ole vieraiden kielten ymmärtäminen. ".. ja joku taas kielten ja erilaisten puhetapojen selittämisen lahja."
Mormonin kirjan kohtaa Moroni 10:16: "kielten ja erilaisten puhetapojen tulkinnan." Suomennoksen lähtökieli on englanti, ja sama kohta kuuluu englanniksi: "the interpretation of languages and of diverse kinds of tongues." Englanninkielisessä Raamatussa kohdassa 1. Kor. 12:10 on mainittu yhdeksi hengelliseksi lahjaksi "divers kinds of tongues".
mitä Morminin kirja tarkoittanee ilmaisulla "erilaiset puhetavat"?
Mistä muuten esittämäsi lainaus on peräisin?
Benjamin Brown kirjoitti muistiin oman kokemuksensa 1853 vieraan kielen ymmärtämisen armolahjasta. Seuraava on hänen kynästään "alkuperäis" kielellä, eli englanniksi:
Benjamin Brown (1853)
Notwithstanding that the above confirmation which I received of the truth of the Church of
the Latter-day Saints, was very great, I did not feel sufficiently convinced to be induced to join
them at once. I had experienced the Spirit of the Lord in a similar way elsewhere, so that when the
elders of the Church, at this meeting, urged upon me to yield obedience to the gospel they
preached, which possessed such evidences as the manifestation of the ancient gifts, I treated the
elders very lightly, and replied, that as for the gift of tongues, I could speak in tongues as well as
any of them. So I could, for directly one of them manifested this gift, the gift of tongues rested
upon me, and gave me the same power. Thus did the devil seek to blind me; and turn that
testimony which the Lord had given me for the truth, almost into an evidence against it!
However, I procured a Book of Mormon, and took it home to read, determined to
investigate until I was fully satisfied. But I had scarcely begun to read, before I felt greatly to
dislike the book. Ere I had perused ten pages, I rejected it altogether. Acting in this bigoted
manner, I had resigned myself to the evil influence that was gaining power over me, so that,
directly after, I felt a similar dislike seize me towards the Bible. Its statements of miracles, etc.,
appeared to me to be compounds of the grossest absurdity possible. I could see no light or good in
it at all! and actually resolved never to read it again! But, oh! the darkness that seized me as soon
as I had made this resolution! The light that was in me became darkness, and how great it was, no
language can describe. All knowledge of religious truth seemed to forsake me, and if I attempted to
quote scripture, my recollection failed, after the first word or so! So remarkable was this, that it
excited reflection, and caused me to marvel, and:finally I determined to repent of my resolve
respecting the Bible, and I commenced to read again.
The book was hardly in my hand, when, as in a moment, my light and recollection returned
as usual. This made me rejoice, and immediately the idea flashed across my mind, "What have you
done with the Book of Mormon? Behave as fairly to that." I soon reprocured it. But, even this
time, I felt prejudiced against the book. I resolved, however, to read it through, and I persevered in
its perusal, till I came to that part where Jesus, on visiting the continent of America, after his
resurrection, grants the request of three of the twelve whom he had chosen, to permit them to live
until his second coming on the earth (like unto John spoken of in the Bible), Here my mind half
yielded to the belief which arose within me, that perhaps it might be true, whereupon I took the
book and laid it before the Lord, and pleaded with him in prayer for a testimony whether it was
true or false, and, as I found it stated that the three Nephites had power to show themselves to any
persons they might wish, Jews or Gentiles, I asked the Lord to allow me to see them for a witness
and testimony of the truth of the Book of Mormon, and I covenanted with him, if he complied
with my request, that I would preach it even at the expense of my life, should it be necessary.
The Lord heard my prayer, and, about five days after, two of the three visited me in my
bedroom. I did not see them come, but I found them there. One spoke to me for some time, and
reproved me sharply on account of my behavior at the time when I first attended the meeting of
the Saints, and treated so lightly the gift of tongues. He told me never, as long as I lived, to do so
again, for I had grieved the Spirit of the Lord, by whose power that gift had been given. This
personage spoke in the Nephite language, but I understood, by the Spirit which accompanied him,
every word as plainly as if he had spoken in English. I recognized the language to be the same as
that in which I had heard Father Fisher speak at the meeting. Such a rebuke, with such power, I
never had in my life before or since, and never wish to have again. I was dumb before my rebuker,
for I knew that what he said was right, and I felt deserving of it.
How these men went, I do not know, but directly they were gone, the Spirit of the Lord
said to me, "Now, you know for yourself You have seen and heard! If you now fall away, there is
no forgiveness for you." Did I not know then, that the Book of Mormon was true, and that Joseph
Smith was a Prophet of the Lord? Sure I did, and I do now, as surely as I know that I live.
lainaus yllä olevasta:
"I asked the Lord to allow me to see them for a witness
and testimony of the truth of the Book of Mormon, and I covenanted with him, if he complied
with my request, that I would preach it even at the expense of my life, should it be necessary."

Jesse Crosby Autobiography
Soon after (September 2, 1844), Dr. Shelton and family were baptized, he being a man of
influence and a magistrate in the county of York. The excitement seemed to raise higher than
before and things appeared to converge to a point. The 11th of September is a day long to be
remembered. In the afternoon, I preached in Dr. Shelton's neighborhood, (text Revelations 12-14)
and labored to show the falling away, the rise of great Babylon and the coming forth of the great
work of God in the last days. I had great liberty and spoke at length -, Brother Brown and others
bore testimony. The Spirit of God was there. The meeting closed about sunset.
We repaired to the doctor's house for supper. Everything did not appear just right. Some
designing persons walked up the street, made use of some hard speeches and appeared to manifest
a hostile spirit. With supper over, Brother Brown left the house and walked down the street toward
Mr. Foster's. Just before he reached the house, he was met by seven or eight ruffians who knocked
him down and beat him most inhumanly, mangled his body by jumping on him, etc. On the
appearance of a friend, the mob ran off.
Brother Benjamin Brown was brought back half dead, covered with blood and dirt. I
washed his wounds, found him cut and bruised in a horrible manner, and got him in bed in a front
room in the lower story. About 12 o'clock at night, I laid down with him and fell into a drowse for
a moment, to be roused by a prowling mob. I sprang from my bed, seized a chair and held our
bedroom door. The mobbers had possession of the front room and attempted to open our door,
but I withstood them. At this moment, by means of stones and rails, our windows were broken in
with a noise that was like thunder. This gave me to understand that there was no other alternative.
We must either fall into the hands of a merciless mob, or I must do my best.
Elder Brown was scarcely able to get out of bed; all the weapons I had were a chair and
cane; the chair appeared to be the heaviest. I drew it and stood ready for a charge, but none dared
to put his head in my reach. I am thankful that they did not. I stood here in suspense, not knowing
what my fate might be, but was determined to defend myself to the last; for there was no hope of
mercy if once in their hands.
Our room was small, about ten feet square; stones, rails, etc. were thrown into the room,
but as good luck would have it, we were not hurt by them. By that time, Mrs. Shelton broke
through, for the mob, before they commenced their operations, crept in and fastened the family
into their rooms to prevent them from lending a hand of assistance, and carne to our door. Her
voice was the voice of an angel; she bid us come out quickly; we did so, and that too,
undiscovered by the mob. The night was spent in this deplorable manner. However, about the time
we left the bedroom, the doctor left the house by a back door, and after a while returned with 12
men to protect the house.
On examination, we found the windows broken in a most deplorable manner. Our
bedroom from which we had escaped was covered with stones, rails, etc. One room in the second
story had all the windows broken, thinking we might be there. The room in which I had taken
refuge was searched once, but in vain. The chief enmity seemed to center in me, but miraculously,
I escaped unhurt. For months, the least noise would disturb me, and I would imagine that I heard
breaking of glass, etc. My feelings were such as are not easily described. The mob consisted of
about 30 men.
The next day we attended our appointments, some miles below, but Elder Brown was not
able to appear in public for some days. All this did not discourage us, or the Saints. We continued
to preach and baptize. For some days we preached and baptized during the day, and slept in the
woods during the night time. During all this, we had many more invitations for preaching than we
were able to fill.
Siksi on aina ensiarvoisen tärkeätä AINA lukea Pyhiä Kirjoituksia rukoillen.
on MK:n alkuperäiskieli.
Olet jo munannut itseäsi tarpeeksi haploinesi, joten olepa varovainen...
vaan tiedosta. MK on saneltu ja kirjoitettu englanniksi. Ei siinä ole mitään uskonvaraista. Kyse on historiallisesta totuudesta.
Oletko itse saanut sellaisen?
Sekin kiinnostaisi, miten kielten tulkitsemisen lahja sinun mielestäsi liittyy ihmistuntemukseen. Melko uskonvaraiselta sekin väite tuntuu.
alunperinkään kielten tulkitsemisen armolahjasta, vaan Mormonin kirjassa mainitusta "erilaisten puhetapojen tulkitsemisesta", joka on siinäkin kirjassa eri asia kuin kielillä puhuminen. Kuinka tämä ei nyt mene perille?
ylempänä asian. Kysymyksessä on sama lahja.
