$708 billion plus $33 billion is $741 billion. but then there's the 'defense-related expenditures'for such things as the 18 or so secretive agencies (CIA/FBI/DHS/NSA/DIA/AIA/AFIA/NIA/NRO/DARPA, etc) DoE gets some and so does NASA, plus the VA.THese are generally runing about 300 billion. now we're looking at a figure approaching $1.1 trillion a year.
back in 2005, the US hit the unprecedented point of spending more on 'defense' than the rest of the world oombined and that was when with all these expenses, it stood at some $850 billion a year. so it is still soaring.
it also bears mentioning that the GAO reported in 2006 that study of DoD budgets and expenditures from 1994-2004 showed that somehow, somewhere, a trillion dollars 'disappeared.'
about the same time, i read this piece about how the US DoD had some 65 weapons R&D projects in progress, but one general noted that there are several projects far to secret to be on such a public list as that...
the armageddonists here and elsewhere are partying hardy; rubbing their hands and drooling in anticipation of truly vast numbers of deaths as the sham war on terror expands. there is no doubt that they intend mass-murder on a scale never before seen. while it is true that human population, artificially expanded by the mismanaged industrial revolution which has increased our numbers by over 700% from just 1 billion in 1900 to almost 7 bilion today... the masters of war have a 'final solution' to that disaster threatening all of earthly nature. these envision a high-tech future 'paradise' after they've rid the earth of all they consider 'undesirables.' and they get us to pay for it all.
the terrible truth is that we may already have passed the point where even a global grassroots movement of billions of people may be unable to stop their march towards our annihilation. suggestions anyone?
