Hi everybody ^^
I have lived in Finland 5 months now and I cannot help but to wonder why Finnish people always think that they are worse than other nationalities and that Finnish culture is somehow inferior to other cultures? why is this?
I am currently working here as dance instructor and I also study Psychology in the University in Helsinki and I have met many wonderful people during my stay here. I just wonder why Finnish men and women so often call eachother to be boring, self -centered and stuck up? I dont see this to be true at all.
I think you guys are very wonderful. You are open, very straightforward and honest people. Why does finnish people always look at the bad sides in eachother instead of complimenting your women and men. Yes you might be little bit more quiet than other nationalities. But as I have noticed while working with the youth of this country, I think those times are long gone :p
So I am just wondering why you guys bash yourselves so much. Many Finnish men who have come to talk to me always bash Finnish women to be self-centered, boring and unfriendly and say how people are so great in Asia and how great we Asian women are. I wonder why is this?

Well, it is mainly because of our history. The Finns were subjugated by the Swedes for about five hundred years, and when that ended, the Russians took the master's role in which they continued to subjugate the Finns for about 110 years.
I think it will take at least two hundred years until you can see any change in how the Finns behave. That is the bill we have to pay.
