About Rabbi Levin
Rabbi Levin is the leader of an Orthodox Jewish congregation in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, New York. He is the father of nine and has a granddaughter born in Jerusalem. In honor of her birth, Rabbi Levin recently founded Save The Holy Land Babies, an organization dedicated to encouraging indigent Israeli mothers to carry their pregnancies to term.
For a quarter of a century Rabbi Levin has been addressing the annual
March for Life in Washington. He has traveled across the country representing his organization Jews for Morality while often acting as a spokesman for the 1,200 rabbis who comprise the Rabbinical Alliance of America and the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the US and Canada. The rabbi has debated Jesse Jackson on TV in Portland, Oregon, met the Pope at Cardinal O'Conner's residence in New York City, represented the Jewish community at a pro-life meeting hosted by President Reagan at the White House, and visited the 87 abortion protestors imprisoned in Vermont. More recently, he held a joint press conference with Judge Roy Moore in Montgomery, Alabama and, at a press conference in Florida, spoke out in support of efforts to continue feeding Terri Schiavo.
Amongst the liberals that Rabbi Levin has confronted and debated are then New York State Governor Mario Cuomo, then New York City Mayor Ed Koch, Village Voice editor and homosexualism activist Richard Goldstein, television hosts Phil Donohue and David Suskind, abortionist Bill Baird, radio host Alan Colmes, Senator Joseph Lieberman, author Shmueli Boteach, and Phil Tatum, publisher of the Harlem-based Amsterdam News.
Rabbi Levin's challenge to powerful Congressman Steven Solarz forced him to remove his sponsorship of pro-homosexual legislation and, in the words of the McLaughlin Report, he began to "out Reagan the Reagan White House" in his newly adopted anti-Communist stands. Similarly, Levin's pressure on a liberal New York State assemblyman resulted in his primary sponsorship of an anti-pornography "minor display law". The rabbi's lawsuit against New York City Mayor Koch resulted in the year long closing of a notorious homosexual bathhouse and the permanent closing of the equally vulgar club, Plato's Retreat.
Rabbi Levin has authored op-ed articles in The New York Times and USA
Today, has been profiled in the critical work Culture Wars and even 'merited' two pages in Ed Koch's book Politics. Rabbi Levin, whose approbation appears on the jacket cover of a pro-life book authored by Dr. Jerry Falwell, has spoken out in defense of Catholic clergy accused of anti-Semitism.
Rabbi Levin was featured in the journal Inside the Vatican because of his stirring presentation delivered at a conference held at the UN supporting the Vatican delegation which was being threatened with expulsion from that body.
Rabbi Yehuda Levin sees his life mission as publicizing the authentic Torah Jewish conservative viewpoint vis-à-vis life and family issues, saving as many lives as possible, and helping inspire and train the next generation of pro-life and family laity and clergy leadership.
Rabbi Levin, who has hosted his own radio program in New York, is a frequent presence in various religious and secular media and tries to fulfill as many requests as he can, speaking throughout the US and Canada.
Among the topics that Rabbi Levin addresses:
Why are so many Jews liberals?
Abstinence vs. modesty
A silver lining in the priest molestation scandal
Reactivating pro-life and family activism
Jew Jitsu - How conservatives can obtain coverage from the hostile liberal media
