Even though Mariah Carey has a new fragrance, she never was the type to spray on a scent before she left the house. In fact, Carey says she never really wore perfumes until she fell in love with her own creation, "M."

"This is the first fragrance that I wear," Carey told The Associated Press in an interview Monday. "I'm not really a perfume person at all ... Things that are too strong and overwhelming, that's what I was always not a fan of."

But when Elizabeth Arden approached the superstar to create her own perfume, it piqued her interest — mainly because the cosmetics company didn't want to use just her name, but wanted her input in the creation of the scent, which she describes as light, sensual and memorable.

"They were welcoming in my involvement just in every detail, and that was what was the most exciting thing to me," said Carey.

Carey says the fragrance, which comes in a purple bottle with her signature butterfly icon on top, was based on some of her favorite things. One is a Moroccan incense; another is a flower called the Living Tahitian Tiare. But another scent mixed into the fragrance is unexpected: toasted marshmallows.

Carey worked on "M" while on tour and working on her latest album, and said she spent as much time on launching the fragrance as she did working on her music career: "I'm obsessed with it!"

But now she's back to putting most of her focus on the new record, due out early next year. The as-yet-untitled album is the follow-up to her multiplatinum comeback disc, The Emancipation of Mimi, which earned her three Grammys.

"It's hard for me to sit here and talk about it without sounding like I'm bragging if I'm in love with it, but I'm in love with this album," she says. "I think that having the success with the last record allowed me to have more freedom. ... and just make records that I like. It's kind of a really fun record."

Mariah Carey just launched her new fragrance which just bears her initial M. It is described as a floriental and was created with perfumer Carlos Benaïm of IFF.

The notes are a bit surprising and interesting. They convey the idea that they are there for a reason because they do not sound like immediately recognizable logical associations: "It has top notes of marshmallow and sea breeze accord, a heart of Living Tahitian Tiare and gardenia and a drydown of sheer amber, patchouli and Moroccan incense."......

"An eau de parfum spray, M by Mariah Carey will be available in three sizes: 1 oz. for $38, 1.7 oz. for $48 and 3.3 oz. for $58. A 0.5-oz. parfum, $175, and a 6.7-oz. body lotion, $28, also will be sold.

The bottle, created by Arden's Jean Antretter, is a lavender glass orb with a subtle wave design and a silver rope-patterned neck. The cap is topped by Carey's signature butterfly. The outer carton features fluttering butterflies, with a front panel that opens to reveal the fragrance."

Joulukuussa ilmestyy Suomessa uus Mariah musa dvd.

The Adventures of Mimi Tour DVD is a concert tape of American pop/R&B singer-songwriter Mariah Carey for her 2006 summer tour, The Adventures of Mimi Tour. The DVD was shot at her show in Anaheim, California on October 8, 2006 at Honda Center. It is Carey's first DVD release since #1's (2000), a compilation of music videos.

Universal Records has revealed the following update regarding Mariah's tour DVD: It will consist of a concert event from Anaheim, California, where Chingy did the opening act and Carey performing all of her stellar hits with prestigious guest stars Boyz II Men. Deluxe 2 disc package, disc one the concert with a bonus disc featuring behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, 4 karaoke songs, and more.

Release Date

The highly anticipated DVD has still not received an official release date despite confirmations from Carey that she is working on releasing the tour DVD. Recently, it has been given a release date of November 1, 2007 which is close to the release of her two albums at the end of 2007.
