I applied for divorce and I would like to buy a new house for me and my kids.
If I buy the house before the divorce enter in force, does my ex-husband have right to claim a half of the house that I buy on my name?
What kind of a paper we should sign in order to make sure he won’t have to right to claim a half of the house?
Please advice!
Thank you very much

If you apply for a a mortgage loan at the bank, you will have to make sure the mortgage is in your name only. That way the house will belong to you and your husband has no claim to it. If the divorce is filed, the paperwork in and you purchase the house, it should be ok. You might want to check this with the bank, and to make sure, a lawyer. Do not trust any advise you get anonymously on the internet no matter how expert it sounds.

Hi,
do you have a prenupt? If the divorce is not final it all depends on the prenupt. Go and talk to a lawyer to be on the safe side (at least that's what I'd do). Lawyers are not exactly cheap, but they can be worth every penny and save you from a lot of trouble. If you can't afford a lawyer go and talk to someone at Oikeusaputoimisto, they'll appoint someone on to your case. But if you have the money to buy a house I'm sure you can afford legal advice.

I already made an appointment with a lawyer.
