I would probably go back home if my life here were so difficult.

suomea.

1) Learn Finnish language - or -
2) Go home.

Just agree to all those blames and you disarm your opponent. Do you best to adopt into the system and do not isolate yourself to your own peers only. Widen your social network through hobbies and be active in organisations. We do not work for living but live for work and if you intend to come to Finland to gain from our social security, which too many of you do, you have to accept that you are not appreciated.

Work hard and take our wifes and jobs too and tell your Finnish friends that you left a job for them in Mogadishu.

  • No ainakin sinun tekstisi perusteella sinä olet juuri sellainen ihminen, jonka Suomeen tulisikin tulla.

Kielen opittuaan on helpompi saada töitäkin.

If a foreigner tells me I've said things to him that I've never actually said, what should I do? I guess I should tell him to stop listening to those voices inside his head!!

If you work under a legal work contract and pay your taxes, then good for you. If you study at a "free" school (=we taxpayers pay for it) then I expect you to contribute the costs back to the society sooner or later - that goes without saying! If you don't work or study then you ARE lazy!

If you marry a Finnish person then good for you as long as in this country you respect your spouse and the local values and laws and support for your own living rather than living on wellfare. If you bring your wife from your own country instead it's ok as long as you remember that her wellfare is on YOUR and her OWN responsibility, not the society's and the taxpayers'.

If your countryman commits a crime then you should be the first one to condemn it and hope he'll get punished and deported - it's people like HIM who ruin the reputation of people like YOU!

Studying is free, social security will provide you enough for a roof on top of you and food to eat, the lowest corruption rate in the world... what makes this society so challenging? What about your country?

  • I couln´t agree more with this message, so many foreigners seem to be complaining about our country but for sure they are not thinking to move back to their own country. There is a big controversy in here. Even I, if I am planning to move abroad I have to take care of my own wellbeing, respect the local people and laws OR my life will become very difficult.

And really there seems to be already quite a few foreigners (also from Africa) here and I really do believe finnish men are not jealous of them having finnish woman. Also they can get finnish women as a girlfriends/wifes. And I am writing this as a woman.

I think that in Africa maybe you are not expected to work as hart it is expected in the western world, but this is the rules that consider everyone living here.

    Äänestä

Well you have to learn the finnish language if you are going to stay here, I think everyone understands that. If you are really studying to the point of graduating (really) who is blaming you for that?

After graduation you are in the situation like everybody else; it´s time to look for a job. And that needs work also. If you don´t find your branch of work from here in Finland you can always look jobs for example in other EU countries etc.

Don´t make it so difficult but be ready to make an effort to get that (like everybody else have to do)

And you have to change your attitude little bit to finally be part of the society.

Where I have been studying there have been foreigners, but the problem has been that they don´t seem to graduate...But that doesn´t seem to be the matter today´s polythecnic/university foreign students

Great comments, I really don't see why I need to study finnish if I am in Finland only for my studies. I do study in english. I am going back to United Staes as soon as I am done. I paid for the school myself, so I am not hurting your tax money..I was not planning to commit a crime, actually I have no time for it, either for women. This exactly show me how you people, most of you think. You think you know us, altough you have no clue. So do not think you know people, until u know them... And wellcome to United States. I bet we'll treat you better. Well, if you tell us're from Finland we might think that must be part of former Soviet Union, but that shoud be allright with you guys as you think we all foreigners come from same place with same kind of backround.

  • from states everything is fine, you know how the society and stuff works, no sweat, have a good time and studies here no matter what your skincolour is.

  • Tell me, if you are American and study in English, why do you make so many mistakes in your writing? Haven't you learned at school that Finnish and English are written with capitals? You don't write "United Staes" or "wellcome to United States" either, do you? I think the correct way is to write: "welcome to the United States".

Do you know what I think? I think you are a non-American college dropout whose father is a civil cervant in Zimbabwe or some other corrupt African country, and it is your father who pais your studies (=waste-of-time), not you.

  • The colour of the skin is irrelevant it´s the country/place where you come from that counts and makes what you are. But if you realy are a native from the USA you don´t write that excellent english though.

I would also bet like the other one here that you are coming fron some propably 3.world countries and you are PLANNING to move to USA after your studies? Especially if you would be studying in Polythecnic/University your english would be better if you were a USA native. And also my bet would be that it´s your father or family who are paying your studies? Or you are also trying to work here besides your studies.

But the people here were wrong, most of us made that conclusion that you are one of those who come first (try to come) with this refugee systems and then stay here without much of the planning what to do with their lifes. And sometimes they are thinking several years and that´s what makes finns angry since they have to pay this "fun".

I would think anyway that when the finns are meeting you eye to eye they would know "what you are". Meening this student. The way people walk, behave, speak, look you and look out explains more than we know.

So I am sorry for this "quick turn off" from the finns but it´s unfortunately the experiences in tha past that affect our today´s behaving.

    Luck with your studies anyway!

I am not a native english or north american person which I believe you have claimed to be. Though I haven´t had time to read all the statements.

Try to do the same with my language, all right? Since you have propably stayed here all ready quite a while, I am sure it´s a piece of cake to you. But anyway I still think EXACTLY the same way as before. Suomessa meillä on sanonta, ei nimi miestä pahenna, ellei mies nimeä, joten tästä sinullekin vähän ohjenuoraa..:)
