Maybe we have to look little bit deeper to achieve the goals that Jim are speaking of. What you really need is competition and commitment to fight hard, until the final whistle has been blown. You need fun and creative practices, so that players will stay focused and motivated to give their best day after day. It’s not easy to give your best shot in every practice and game, when you have to earn your daily living, take care of your family and share even your weekends and holidays with game schedule.
Everything starts in junior phase. You need good coaches, who understand the “game”, but they have to understand also the “whole” as you said. In the beginning the team has to be more or less place to have fun, don’t practice too hard and let the players feel that they are wanted in the team, even if they are not ready for the sport (mentally or physically) . The team spirit is one of the basics you have to create, not by force or yelling, but doing right things and earn the respect as players have to earn it to get the starting position. The team spirit gives the solid rock to develop the young individuals.
To be able to raise the quality and know how means that you must have plenty of juniors and coaches available. How you get generally more enthusiasm to the sports. The association should be mighty with money, sponsors and tv-visibility. The association should arrange courses for talented players, coaches and referees. Potential powerful association is one of the most important part of the puzzle. There has been this kind of efforts in the air, but the resources have so pour that it has been more or less as chasing the ghost at garret.
Many youngsters are afraid of the injuries that are close feature of this sport. I think that biggest challenge is to get coaching knowledge on a level that players will practice and play in good shape and with right techniques to minimize the risks. Also the referee knowledge and physical condition should be raised to a level that enables hard but fair hits without revenge and mental shouting’s that seem to more rule than exemption by players and coaches.
To be able to have good practices, you need lot of players (or juniors in each team in question). When you come closer to the older junior teams where practices should be harder you need competition for each player position in offence and defense. Without real competition you get only great individuals but never the steady team where you are able to have some injuries, illness, work obstacle etc. European or American imports should be assistance but not half of the team in scores, defending and giving the spirit fight for the points.
Jim your long term Finnish development will include football knowledge (practice, drills, food, lifestyle, game plans, games…), team spirit (also tough mental and psychological drills how to handle different persons). Get all the young players (starting from PW-level) to enjoy their presence in the team and maybe they will bring the message ahead and the amount or volume will strengthen. If we have players(juniors) adequately by numbers, then we shall be victorious.
In short term’s, I wouldn’t mind if the seventh in a row would be a fact ;)

Olisi uskottavampaa jos ei Porvoolla olisi jenkkipelinrakentajaa, jenkkikeskushyökkääjää ja puolustuksen parhaana pelaajana jenkki LB... Kaikilla menestyvillä joukkuiella on jenkkipelaajat ja sillä siisti. Porvoon junnuilla on vielä pitkä matka oikeasti huipulle, nykyisellään hyökkäys lepää Kurvisen ja jenkki QB:n varassa. Puolustus puolestaan on täysin riippuvainen jenkki LB:stä ja niistä vanhoista konkareista, joita mukana vielä on.

Without mass of competition and skillful players (around U17, U19 and U21), what do you see today?
U21 series was played with five teams. Including team that ended every game about 0-78 in score board. Most of the teams had around fifteen to twenty players in roster. Many of them are able to play also in U19, some also in U17 by age. U17 series started with seven teams and lot of games ended up to 30-50 point difference.
Offseason, winter activities. How many young players really have tight practice schemes to improve their physical property to get enough improvement every year. This is the most important part to get progress to your muscles, mobility, speed and agility. You have to get progress step by step or you have sealed your destiny for ages.
It’s possible that you have passed the youth from pw to U19 about three or four so called “high level games” per year. And this means that some player positions are not even tested because lack of that player position skillful participants. Normally passing game and special teams (quarterback, corners, and safeties) are poorly executed. This affects also to all player positions because lot of normal variations are excluded from the playbook .Most of the junior team couches are ex-players knowing lot of their own position in offence or defense, but the whole game knowledge is flat like the field edge. How are you able to respond to the maple league challenge or national team demands without playing hard and against skilled opponents many games per year? When you should join the adult’s team, you are lacking speed, strength, play reading capability, tactical knowledge and tackling ability in such dimensions that no way you will survive.
Everybody knows who is Teemu Selänne, Mikael Granlund, Jari Litmanen or Lauri Dalla Valle. If you ask on the market who is Michael Quarchie or Karri Kuuttila? What do you think will be answer? This sports needs stars and faith that you can reach highest level, enjoy your sports and get compensation moneywise. Hard work and commitment needs to be rewarded with glory and mammon. Without possible paycheck in Europe or even US, it’s ridiculous to believe that the sports would be nothing but amateur dabble.
The whole sports have to jump comprehensively to second layer to get Finnish development on course that will have massive impacts for the Finnish American football raising.

No siis mä en kyllä kompannu mitään, vaan toi edellinen kirjottaja. Mut oli noi tekstit kenen tahansa, Jimin tai Bobin, niin mitään uutta niissä ei oo.

Vaajteraliigaa pidän kilpasarjana ja siellä olevien joukkueiden täytyy kehittää peliään voittavaksi. Tämä tarkoittaa sitä, että yritetään saada parhaat pelaajat kentälle auttamaan joukkue voittoon.
Siksi hiukan ihmettelen tuon tekstin Jenkki kammoa. Jos jenkkejä keran sallitaan 3 joukkueessa, niin tottahan toki jokainen katsoo ne jenkit itselleen, jotka eniten joukkuetta hyödyttää.
Toisilla se voi tarkoittaa linjamiehiä ja toisilla taitopelipaikan pelaajia.
Jos jenkki valinta on onnistunut, niinkuinSeinäjoella näyttä onnistuneen, niin silloin jenkit on isossa roolissa pelissä.
Myös se että on kovia jenkkkejä kentällä kehittää myös muita.

Tuo on totta, mutta perusjuntti ei tajua kuka on parempi pelaaja.
Eli nyt TVn ollessa isommin mukana pitäisi kehittää tapahtumia, jotta yleisö löytäisi lajin.
Sitakautta tulee lisää sidosryhmiä ja uusia pelaajia, sponsoreita, harrastajia, toimijoita.
Me vaan ollaan lajissa jota ei lähetä kattomaan sattumalsta, pitää olla joku juttu, jonka vuoksi lähteä jefua katsomaan.
