Fewer robins will be keeping gardeners company this winter
There will be far fewer robins to be seen in the nation's gardens this winter after a big drop in their population.
The number of robins is 27 per cent lower than average, and at its lowest level since 1997, according to a major study.
The birds – which do not migrate – suffered during last winter's freeze, when average temperatures fell to a 30 year low, reducing the amount of available food for them.
