Kaksi vuotta sitten olivat republikaanitkin huolesta "vihreinä" hiilidioksidipäästöistä ja ilmastonmuutoksen uhkasta.

Vuoden 2008 presidentinvaalien lopputuloksella ei ole mitään vaikutusta Yhdysvaltain hallituksen pyrkimyksiin irtautua fossiilisista polttoaineista, koska kummankin valtapuolueen puolueohjelman mukaan
a.) ilmastonmuutos on kaikkien yhteinen murhe
b.) nykyinen ilmastonmuutos johtuu nousevista kasvihuonekaasupitoisuuksista
c.) kasvihuonekaasupitoisuuksien nousu on ihmisen toiminnan seuraus
Kummankaan puolueen puolueohjelmassa ei tule tapahtumaan muutoksia AGW:n suhteen, näyttivätpä gallupit (jotka eivät edusta puolueiden virallista linjaa) mitä hyvänsä. Näin ei tule tapahtumaan missään muussakaan kehittyneessä valtiossa ja syynä on tiedemaailman vahva yhtenäinen käsitys.
PS. REP ja GOP ovat voittoatavoittelemattomia yhdistyksiä JA edustavat republikaaneja.
