Outback South Australia has sweltered through six days of temperatures in the mid-40s.
On Tuesday, SA recorded its highest temperature in 21 years, with 48.5 degrees Celsius at Roxby Downs.
Matt Collopy from the weather bureau says other parts of the state have felt the severe heat too.
"Woomera was 48 degrees and that's the hottest temperature since 1960 and Port Augusta was 47 degrees and again that was their hottest temperature for January since 1968," he said.
Adelaide is also heating up and is forecast to have a 40-degree day on Sunday and 39 next Monday.
SA's temperature record is 50.7 degrees Celsius in January 1960 at Oodnadatta.
